Manchester United identify Kalvin Phillips as Declan Rice alternative
Manchester United have ended their interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and are set to pursue Kalvin Phillips, according to The Daily Star.
Recently, ESPN reported that the Champions League side had doubts about Rice’s abilities and had instructed their scouts to identify alternatives.
It now appears that they have narrowed in on the 25-year-old Leeds midfielder who shined at Euro 2020, ensuring that the Hammers may now have one less club in pursuit of the 22-year-old.

Great news
The ESPN report hinted that he was being considered but wasn’t a priority.
However, now it seems like Phillips will be the midfielder they target, which would better West Ham’s chances of retaining Rice.
David Moyes has been a keen admirer of the England international and has denied time and again, that he was for sale.
Still only 22, Rice has shown just how good he can be and is only improving with each passing year.

At the EUROs this summer, he showcased his maturity against some of the top nations in the world and proved that he’s not just a big fish in a small pond and is capable of going toe to toe against world-class players.
Hopefully, he realises that no other club is going to value him like West Ham do and gets convinced to pen a new deal at the London Stadium.
We’re still expecting the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City to be back in the hunt next summer, but it will be interesting to see whether they can match the London club’s valuation of the 22-year-old.
