Manchester City twist emerges in race to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United – Di Marzio

Manchester City are reportedly right in the hunt with Arsenal to secure the services of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice this summer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sports, the Citizens are working on making their first bid for the 24-year-old this summer.

The Hammers have received offers from Arsenal for Rice but are still to see City’s interest being consolidated via a transfer offer.

Via Twitter, Di Marzio wrote, “Man City strongly join the race for Declan Rice from WestHa alongside Arsenal. Man City working on a bid.”

The Hammers will now have the opportunity to pit the two clubs’ offers against each other and see which team ends up paying more.

City know that Arsenal will become genuine contenders and not pretenders if they have someone like Rice in their midfield.

West Ham

With Ilkay Gundogan leaving, they need a quality central midfielder and have identified Rice as someone to partner Rodri in midfield.

There have been talks about Manchester United and Chelsea too, but right now it feels like these two are the main sides interested in signing Rice.

The Old Trafford outfit are also planning to include two first-team players in the bid to sign the Englishman so it remains to be seen if that offer arrives at the table.

Any City bid is going to be higher than what Arsenal offered and it remains to be seen if the Gunners have the financial muscle to go toe to toe with them and make a bid that West Ham end up accepting.
