Manchester City scout Georges Santos set to join West Ham
West Ham have snapped up former Manchester City scout Georges Santos, with the ex-midfielder confirming the move on his LinkedIn page.
The 51-year-old will be reuniting with the Hammers’ Head of Recruitment Rob Newman after their work together at the Etihad Stadium, and the information on his page confirms he started work last month.
Santos’ Wikipedia still claims he is with Marseille, but he left the French club in April after almost four years.
Massive addition
The former Sheffield United star was in charge of Man City’s European scouting for almost two years before leaving for Mallorca, and Newman definitely trusts him to have brought him on board at West Ham.
Having spent 12 years at the Etihad Stadium before moving to the London Stadium, Hammers’ Head of Recruitment definitely knows who the best men for the job are after managing the Premier League champions’ team of scouts, and it is safe to say Santos comes highly recommended.
David Moyes has made some solid additions to his squad of recent, but he knows experts are needed in the recruitment department if the club are to move to the next level, and it is good to see the wealth of experience some of those he has brought on board has.
West Ham badly need to strengthen their striking department in January, and Newman and Santos would be working tirelessly to identify the perfect option.
