Magical moment from West Ham United ace Lucas Paqueta v Anderlecht left Hammers bench in disbelief

Lucas Paqueta put on a superb display versus Anderlecht on Thursday evening – the West Ham midfielder even boasted enough time to showcase some tricks.

West Ham made it three wins from three in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night, with Gianluca Scamacca scoring the only goal of the game to beat Anderlecht.

But the Italian forward wasn’t the only new Hammers signing that had a great game – Paqueta stole the show in midfield after putting in his best performance since his £51million move in the summer.

The 25-year-old looked full of confidence, and pulled off an outrageous piece of skill in front of his teammates on the bench.

As captured by BT Sport, Paqueta controls a lobbed pass in ridiculous fashion, leaving Aaron Creswell among others in raptures on the West Ham bench.

Finding his feet

It seems Paqueta is really starting to settle down and find his feet at West Ham. Hammers fans were understandably delighted when the club reached an agreement for his signature in the summer, and the Brazilian playmaker is slowly but surely justifying his fee.

After a hugely impressive two years at Lyon, Paqueta was a top target for many great European clubs, so West Ham acquiring his signature was a huge statement of the club’s intentions.

West Ham

One of those intentions is to be a club consistently in Europe. Paqueta has already shown how he can contribute to that goal through his Europa Conference League performances this season.

After such a strong start to the group, there’s no doubt that David Moyes is highlighting the tournament as a priority this season.

The Hammers enjoyed such a great run in the Europa League last season, and after coming so close to winning it, they’ll fancy their chances of competing for silverware in its little brother competition.

With qualification all but confirmed now in the tournament, Moyes can also start to rest and rotate his squad in the final three matches.
