Lukasz Fabianski injury update emerges ahead of West Ham v Liverpool
West Ham United remain very uncertain whether Lukasz Fabianski will be fit to have a chance to feature against Liverpool, according to Metro.
Chris Davie reported on Saturday [28 December] that the veteran goalkeeper remains a “major doubt” as Arne Slot brings the league leaders to the London Stadium, following a collision against Southampton on Boxing Day which required oxygen on the pitch and a stretcher to substitute him.
Julen Lopetegui insisted after the victory at St Mary’s that Alphonse Areola is more than ready to deputise, with the Daily Mail reporting [27 December] that Fabianski would be unavailable to face the Reds to stay on the cautious side.
West Ham United set to start Alphonse Areola v Liverpool
First and foremost, the news that Fabianski is feeling better according to Lopetegui and ready to complete his recovery is a huge relief with television broadcasters refusing to show replays of the collision.
It looked very nasty for the experienced Pole, whose Hammers side lifted their spirits to go on to emerge victorious on the South Coast via Jarrod Bowen’s second-half winner.
In Fabianski’s absence, Areola is ready to return – a ‘keeper who went over two months without a competitive outing for the Irons having been dropped after the 4-1 thrashing by Tottenham on 19 October.

The 31-year-old French international has to view this rekindled chance as exactly that, with Fabianski turning 40 before the end of this season and the former Arsenal man seeing his contract set to expire at the London Stadium next summer.
Areola is expected to have plenty of action called upon him against a rampant Liverpool attack, and the Sunday teatime kick-off could prove defining one way or the other for his future as a Hammer.
In other West Ham news, Luis Guilherme is likely to be raging with a recent transfer development.
