Lukasz Fabianski admits to Premier League offer before West Ham U-turn

Lukasz Fabianski looked to be leaving West Ham at the end of last season, as he waved goodbye to the Hammers.

However, in September 2025, he rejoined the Irons as a backup goalkeeper with Wes Foderingham exiting the London Stadium.

The Polish shot-stopper has now told Polish media outlet SportoweFakty that before the U-turn on his London Stadium career, he had received “several offers”, including one from Everton.

The Toffees are currently managed by former West Ham manager David Moyes, who entrusted the 40-year-old between the sticks for much of his tenure.

Lukasz Fabianski nearly had David Moyes reunion before West Ham return

Fabianski’s return was met with a lot of excitement by supporters, who have become fond of the former Poland international over the years.

The West Ham goalkeeper has been a fantastic servant, playing 216 times over the years and being a key member of the Conference League-winning side.

His years of service had made him a West Ham favourite among the Irons fanbase.

However, his dramatic return, following the emotional goodbye at the end of last season, almost did not happen.

Fabianski said: “I had several offers, from Everton for a second goalkeeper, and there was an inquiry from Legia, and I had various conversations.

“However, my family and I decided we didn’t want to relocate. I remember a conversation last season with my family and people at West Ham. I assumed I’d play one more season and then say goodbye. Last summer changed my thinking somewhat.”

The return has not gone quite as planned, with the 40-year-old dealing with a back injury since September.

How close is Fabianski to a return?

Nuno Espirito Santo could see Fabianski available again quite soon, as the goalkeeper revealed he is feeling at 80-90 per cent and has returned to train with the rest of the keepers.

However, with recent performances of Mads Hermansen, the Polish shot-stopper may not feature again for the Irons, unless there are pressing circumstances in terms of injury or suspension.

Hermansen and Areola have been trading places as West Ham’s number one, with the Frenchman taking up the role as the cup competition goalkeeper.

Fabianski will still have a major role to play, as his experience and leadership as one of the Hammers’ senior voices will be key in the dressing room amid the relegation fight.

While it may not be a return to the pitch, the return of his presence in training and the dressing room is an underrated trait that should not be dismissed.
