Ludek Miklosko raves about hard work of West Ham star Tomas Soucek
West Ham legend Ludek Miklosko has credited his fellow countryman Tomas Soucek for his hard work and dedication to become a Premier League star.
Soucek joined the Hammers from Slavia Prague in January 2020 on loan. His half-season spell was so successful the club signed him to a four year-deal for £19.1million in July. He’s now the London club’s top scorer this season with nine goals.
While speaking to The Athletic, Miklosko revealed that big-man has had to work hard to improve his game. He said: “It’s brilliant seeing West Ham, especially Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.
“I’ve known Soucek since he was playing for the Under-21s with the Czech Republic. At first, I thought he was a little bit clumsy. He wasn’t really a good player back then but he used to work so hard and that dedication has helped him reach this level.
“It shows what you can achieve with hard work.”
Far from clumsy
We don’t remember seeing a collective group of players that are such hard grafters and it’s excellent to see. The crop of talent we have at the moment is very exciting and David Moyes deserves so much credit for that.
You can see from the way that Soucek plays his matches that he’s a born worker. The Czech never stops running and has come up with some crucial goals for us since joining initially on loan.
He and Coufal will receive fantastic receptions, no doubt, when we’re allowed to fill the London Stadium again. Ludo knows all too well what it’s like to be adored by the West Ham fans. He had a fantastic career with us, picking up the 1991 Hammer of the Year award whilst in the middle of his 374 appearances.
Soucek could be the second player from the Czech Republic to lift the Hammers crown come the end of the season. He was announced yesterday as Czech Player of the Year for 2021, having won the same accolade 12 months ago.
He and Coufal have both set very high standards in their performances for their teammates to follow, we wouldn’t be where we are without them. Not bad for someone who used to be clumsy.
