Lucas Paqueta release clause news as ‘extraordinary’ fee needed for West Ham United to sanction transfer
Lucas Paqueta has no release clause in his contract and it would take an “extraordinary” fee for West Ham United to consider his sale this summer, according to journalist Toby Cudsworth.
90min reported on Tuesday (27 June) that the Hammers faced a battle to keep hold of the playmaker this summer, with European giants Paris Saint-Germain interested in his services.
The Brazil international joined the club for a record-breaking £50million deal last summer and helped them win their first trophy in 40 years by claiming the Europa Conference League.

“To add here, there’s no release clause in Paqueta’s contract at West Ham United,” Cudsworth wrote on Twitter.
“Would have to be an extraordinary sum of money offered to even get a moment’s consideration, particularly with movement expected on the Rice front.”
Promising news
Although Paqueta took a little bit of time to get up and running at the London Stadium, fans saw the very best of him over the final couple of months of the season.
His ability to carve open chances from thin air is something that is lacking amongst the rest of David Moyes’ squad, and this creativity is only going to improve after a season of acclimatising to Premier League football.
The worry for the Hammers was that a release clause could make him easy pickings for the likes of PSG this summer, but this latest update suggests the contrary.
Of course, his exit is still possible, but it seems like West Ham are adamant about building a team around him instead of selling him for a quick profit.
Along with Jarrod Bowen, the 25-year-old is one of the club’s most valuable assets heading into the upcoming Premier League season.
Hopefully, he will remain at the club amid his growing transfer interest and only move from strength to strength in a West Ham shirt.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are already preparing to cash in on the Declan Rice money as they hold a transfer meeting in London as they’re confident of sealing a £50million signing.
