Lucas Paqueta issues ‘brushed under the carpet’ as West Ham star slammed
Martin Allen believes Lucas Paqueta’s issues have been swept under the carpet with his form at West Ham failing to impress.
The 27-year-old is facing charges over alleged betting offences as he continues to play for the Hammers.
Things have not been easy for the midfielder this term with a rift between the player and manager and there has been speculation surrounding his future at the London Stadium.
On the pitch, Paqueta has just three goals with no assists showing a decrease in his level of performance.
However, Allen has criticised the handling of the situation as he posted on X: “It’s been brushed under the carpet about our star player from Brazil Paqueta who has an ongoing legal case which could see him banned for a long time.
“Undoubtedly he’s not the same player. It’s had a massive impact on this team. His form has been poor. It ain’t been easy”
What does the future hold for Lucas Paqueta at West Ham?
There is plenty of speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future with his current club after a cryptic post he shared on social media.
There is no doubt that the 27-year-old has seen his form suffer after events off the pitch which have clearly affected his mentality.
However, with the Irons struggling and Julen Lopetegui fighting for his future, his suffering form is having an impact on the team as a whole, who could do with the Brazilian being able to deliver in the way he has previously.
That being said, we know there is talent in the player and it is up to Lopetegui to make sure the relationship between the pair is at its best in the hope of getting him going for the Hammers again.
While the outcome of the player’s case is pondered, it is time to step it up and West Ham have to figure out what they can do to make it happen otherwise we will no doubt see the pair soon going separate ways.
