Lucas Paqueta injury incident footage emerges in shock blow for West Ham

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta has suffered a new injury blow with footage of the incident emerging from the London Stadium.

The Brazilian star is set for a spell on the sidelines after withdrawing early from training with an ankle injury.

The 27-year-old only returned from a previous knock in the 1-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday (15 February) and his latest issue will be a huge problem for Graham Potter given the lack of capable alternatives.

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta injury footage emerges

Footage emerged of the latest Paqueta blow on 18 February after news of a new problem emerged earlier in the day.

The footage shows the Hammers star looking distressed on the ground being worked on by the medical team.

It will be a huge loss for Potter considering the fitness issues that the Irons already have within their squad.

Lucas Paqueta injury a huge blow for West Ham

The East London club have relied on Paqueta in a makeshift number nine role in recent weeks with Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio out with long-term issues.

Summer signing Crysencio Summerville is also set to miss an extended period, which is a shame because he had started to show his influence at the London Stadium.

If the Brazil star is out for a significant spell, the squad will be reduced to the barebones and Potter will not have a chance to turn round what has been a dismal campaign so far after Julen Lopetegui‘s short reign in the dugout.

He had started to return to his best form after a tough season but now the Hammers will have to rely on others to step up in his absence.

It would help massively if loanee Evan Ferguson could come into the side and start scoring but given his poor form and injury issues before the move to the Irons that is an unlikely prospect.

Carlos Soler is likely to deputise for Paqueta against Arsenal on Saturday (22 February) but he has struggled to live up to expectations in his stint in East London so Paqueta could be a huge miss against the Gunners.
