Lucas Paqueta gets desperate as huge hearing update emerges on West Ham United star

Lucas Paqueta has struggled to avoid the headlines at West Ham in recent months.

The trial over alleged spot-fixing by Paqueta in the Premier League is now underway, with all eyes on the attacker currently, as he awaits answers.

West Ham take on Wolves in the Premier League on Tuesday (1 April) although whether Paqueta will be included in the squad is yet to be seen.

Paqueta update delivered in trial

Paqueta has been missing of late through injury issues and also didn’t travel with his international side during the break, concentrating on his FA hearing.

With the trial ongoing, the 27-year-old is allowed to continue playing for the Hammers for the time being.

However, the decision of whether he plays or not will be down to the player himself, depending on whether he feels he is in the right frame of mind.

Although Graham Potter has credited his player for his frame of mind so far, according to the Daily Mail (1 April), sources say the trial is taking its toll on Paqueta, who is “desperate” for an outcome this week.

The West Ham star has denied any wrongdoing after being accused of purposefully getting yellow cards to influence the outcome of bets.

West Ham wait for Paqueta outcome

Potter will be looking ahead to the summer transfer window already as he looks to put his own spin on the Irons squad ahead of next season.

However, with the trial hanging over Paqueta’s head, it means the East London outfit has to limit their planning for now, as the outcome could play a big part.

If he is found guilty, the Brazilian will face a heavy punishment, with the worst-case scenario being a lifetime ban.

Although he has registered the same number of goals as he has in the last two seasons, Paqueta has no assists so far despite usually racking them up, which could be an indication of his nerves, or something bigger.

Potter will have to choose whether he sees him in his plans going forward anyway but with plenty of business to be done, the boss could probably do without having any enforced changes to make too.
