Lucas Paqueta development surfaces at West Ham United as December date emerges
The testimony of West Ham United ace Lucas Paqueta to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) has now been successfully postponed until 3 December, according to Estadao.
The Brazilian outlet reported via its website on 31 October that he was scheduled to speak with the committee on Wednesday (30 October) about his four counts of alleged match-fixing but instead, the CPI accepted his defence’s request to postpone.
Estadao also shared that this is now the second time they’ve attempted to postpone this hearing so that the West Ham ace can focus on preparing his defence against the FA for his alleged spot-fixing which is scheduled for March 2025.
“Lucas Paquetá ‘s testimony to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) into Gambling and Sports Betting Manipulation has been postponed until December 3,” they wrote.
“The West Ham and Brazilian national team player was invited by senators to give his version of the accusations of involvement in an alleged betting scheme on matches in 2022 and 2023 and was scheduled to speak this Wednesday (30 October), starting at 2:30 pm.
“However, the athlete’s defence requested the postponement and the request was accepted by the CPI. The player’s lawyers have tried for a second time to postpone the hearing, as the first attempt had been denied by the CPI.
“They argue that the player is focused on preparing his defence before the English federation to be presented in December – his hearing at the FA is scheduled for March 2025.”
West Ham United and Lucas Paqueta need this sage to be over with soon
It’s felt like an eternity since the accusations of spot-fixing have been thrown onto Paqueta by the FA.
The Brazilian has consistently denied the allegations when asked about them and has also put out numerous statements attesting to his innocence.
Not only for West Ham but for fans as well, it feels like this saga has gone on for far too long and all involved parties would no doubt like to see it brought to an end soon.

However, with all these postponements for different things such as his testimony to the CPI or even the hearing of his case to the FA, for the average football fan, things are just becoming intertwined and confusing.
It’s evident that things are stepping up a gear at West Ham, however, as they have recently hired a “top” lawyer in Nick De Marco who helped Leicester avoid their Premier League points deduction to help Paqueta prove his innocence.
In other West Ham news, Crysencio Summerville has shared why he chose to move to the Hammers rather than other Premier League teams.
