Lorient have ‘no choice’ but to cash in on West Ham United-linked Terem Moffi

Lorient have “no choice” but the cash in on Nigerian striker Terem Moffi as West Ham United eye for 23-year-old, according to 90min.

The Daily Mail reported (10 January) the Hammers were unable to meet the Ligue 1 side’s £25million asking price after Southampton already had a bid rejected.

However, 90min have since suggested (10 January) the Irons are “still in the mix” as David Moyes looks to add more goalscoring options to his squad.

West Ham

It’s believed there’s now an acceptance at Lorient that it will be an “impossible task” to keep the 23-year-old, with his current deal now in its final 18 months.

Another option

It’s interesting to see the Hammers linked with another striker, and a more dynamic and pacy forward could well be required in East London. Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio are by no means slow, but their play evolves around holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

Moyes is perhaps looking to add a player who can operate on the shoulder of the last defender instead of having a fairly one-dimensional strike force.

West Ham

It was good to see Scamacca score against Leeds United and put in an impressive performance. The Italian has struggled to hit the heights expected of him, but his display at Elland Road will hopefully kickstart the 23-year-old’s season.

In fact, Moyes will be hoping the last two results are a springboard for his side after a largely disappointing start to the campaign. The pressure is certainly on the Scot, but there should be hope that this talented group of players can lift West Ham into a more reasonable league position.
