Lopetegui sack: West Ham stance shared if they don’t get Potter

West Ham United will not sack Julen Lopetegui if they can’t hire Graham Potter as his replacement, according to Sky Sports.

The future of the Spaniard is under some intense questions at the moment with both Everton and the Hammers vying for Potter to become their new manager.

Talks have already been had between the former Brighton boss and West Ham’s representatives but nothing is yet set in stone.

Speaking on Sky Sports (7 January), Sky journalist Rob Dorsett shared what he knows about the current Potter and West Ham situation.

“It has been suggested to me that one or either club will only make a change if they can get potter,” he said.

“So that will be interesting to see what’s going to happen over the next 24 hours.”

West Ham United need to beat Everton to the hiring of Graham Potter

The 2024/25 season has been one that fans and all those associated with the Rush Green club will likely want to forget as soon as possible.

Despite their massive summer spending that was expected to turn things around at the London Stadium, they’ve been outclassed by most of the Premier League opponents they’ve faced.

Everton are in a similar situation to the Hammers and it feels like both top-flight sides are in need of a breath of fresh air around their camps.

At the moment, it’s unclear which team Potter is likely to choose but one thing is for sure, David Sullivan can’t be beaten to his hiring by the Toffees.

Because, if they did, that would put the Merseyside outfit in a more advantageous situation and perhaps help drag them out of the Premier League relegation battle.

Only time will tell what the future holds but if Potter isn’t hired at the London Stadium soon, it feels like West Ham will have missed out on a massive opportunity.
