Lopetegui in shock talks for new job already after West Ham sack
Julen Lopetegui has emerged as a managerial target for Belgium after being sacked by West Ham, according to DHnet.
The Belgian news outlet reported on 19 January that the 58-year-old’s availability makes him a potential candidate for the Red Devils’ vacant head coach role.
The Spaniard was sacked by the Hammers earlier in January and could land himself a new job on the international stage as Belgium searches for a “profile capable of relaunching” the country’s ambitions.
Julen Lopetegui in Belgium talks after West Ham sack
It is safe to say that Irons supporters won’t look back at the ex-Real Madrid boss’ spell in East London with any fondness.
After taking charge of just 22 games for the E20 club, Lopetegui oversaw just seven wins while also playing his part in 10 defeats.
This ultimately wasn’t good enough for David Sullivan and Co. who opted to pull the sack trigger to bring in Graham Potter instead.
It doesn’t appear that the ex-Hammers head coach is looking to wait around for a new job after already entering talks over a new role just weeks after being sacked.

The former Spain boss could be in line to replace Domenico Tedesco after he was sacked on 17 January who lasted less than two years in the job.
Given the amount of quality available in the Red Devils’ squad, it would be interesting to see how well Lopetegui could do but if his London Stadium spell was anything to go by, it won’t be easy.
