Lopetegui at Rush Green on Thursday as West Ham sack talks held
Julen Lopetegui has still been in charge of West Ham training on Thursday morning despite ongoing talks over his future, according to talkSPORT.
The website reported [5 December] that the Spaniard was at Rush Green on 5 December as David Sullivan and the Hammers consider sacking him following the 3-1 loss to Leicester City on Tuesday 3 December.
It is understood that technical director Tim Steidten is in favour of a change at the helm, with the German already creating a succession plan for the struggling head coach [GiveMeSport].
Julen Lopetegui continues West Ham duties despite sack talks
Lopetegui will be desperate to be given more time at the London Stadium, but it seems that Sullivan has already made his mind up on the failing head coach [TBR Football].
It really comes as no surprise to see Steidten already setting his eyes on a new manager, having not agreed on many things with David Moyes, but he deserves his own critics this season.
The technical director’s transfer decisions in the summer look to have backfired mostly, with Niclas Fullkrug missing the majority of games, Guido Rodriguez and Jean-Clair Todibo struggling for form and Luis Guilherme nowhere to be seen.
However, Lopetegui will continue to work with the players at his disposal, many of whom hold incredible quality and should be able to propel the Hammers up the Premier League table.
Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Max Kilman and Mohammed Kudus all have the talent capable of pushing the Hammers forward but they need a manager who can realise their potential.

With 15 points from their first 14 games, the side are sitting in 14th, which is totally unacceptable. Supporters are frustrated with the lack of positive results as well as the poor playing style.
The Spaniard will be up against his former Wolves side next if he remains in charge for that long, with the clash already being labelled “El Sackico” due to Gary O’Neil’s struggles at Molineux.
In other West Ham news, Ally McCoist was baffled by a “strange” Julen Lopetegui decision recently.
