Lille striker Jonathan David open to West Ham move

Lille striker Jonathan David likes West Ham amid rumours linking with him an exit, according to Italian outfit Calcio Mercato.

The Canadian international, 21, was linked with the Premier League in the summer of 2020 while he was at Belgian outfit Gent, but he moved to the Ligue 1 instead and has proven to be a solid addition to their attack.

David could be attracted to the Hammers, but Calcio Mercato do not mention anything about a January interest from the club, but they could do with him for the second half of 2021-22.

Time to swoop?

David Moyes has seen Michail Antonio go eight Premier League games without a goal, and that is very worrying for a team looking to play in the Champions League next season.

West Ham need to bolster their attack during the second half of the campaign, and David has proven himself over the last few months.

The North American has 14 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions this season after ending last term with 13 goals and two assists in 37 Ligue 1 games.

He bagged 18 goals in 27 league games and scored five more in 13 other games in 2019-20, and he could be a long-term option for the Hammers given his age.

They have been linked with him in the past, and with another transfer window approaching, it is not a surprise that the rumours have surfaced again.

Lille will be facing Chelsea in the last-16 of the Champions League in February 2022, and it would take a lot of cash for them to be tempted into selling David in January.
