Letting Tomas Soucek leave after Mark Noble retirement will be disastrous for West Ham
It came as a surprise when reports emerged that West Ham are ready to listen to offers for defensive midfielder Tomas Soucek in the summer transfer window.
However, Sky Sports shared on Friday (May 27) that this is not the case as the Czech Republic international will be staying at the club.
The 27-year-old’s contract expires in 2024 but he has the option to extend it by a year.

He initially joined West Ham on a loan deal from Slavia Prague in January 2020, which was made permanent in July of the same year.
Soucek made 51 appearances, where he notched up six goals, this season in all competitions for the Hammers.

Nothing short of disaster
The news will be a satisfactory one for the West Ham fans as selling a player of Soucek’s class would have been nothing short of a disaster for the club, especially considering the retirement of Mark Noble at the end of the 2021-22 season.
Soucek is an integral part of David Moyes’ plans as he played a key role in West Ham’s success, both, domestically and in Europe.
Apart from dictating things in the midfield, Soucek also offers a goal-scoring threat which makes him a vital player for the side.
After the retirement of Noble, West Ham will also need Soucek to shoulder the responsibility of leadership on the field alongside Declan Rice.
Letting him go as well after the departure of a club legend would have left a massive vacuum in terms of quality and experience in the team.
Therefore, the Hammers board should all they can to ensure that Soucek will stay at the London Stadium for many years to come.
