Leon Osman impressed by Jarrod Bowen’s assist v Everton

West Ham United secured a 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, with a goal from Angelo Ogbonna making all the difference.

Both sides could not be separated in the first-half, but the Italian centre-back rose highest to head in Jarrod Bowen’s corner in the 74th minute.

West Ham were the better side for the majority of the game, and they deservedly left Merseyside with all three points.

Former Everton star Leon Osman was impressed with Bowen’s assist, showering praise on the Hammers forward on BBC Radio 5 Live during the game.

He said: “It’s an absolutely delicious ball from Jarrod Bowen, in-swinger on that left foot.”

“They attack the front post area, West Ham. Angelo Ogbonna beats Ben Godfrey, he beats Declan Rice, the header goes past Jordan Pickford before he can even tell what’s happened.”

Superb

Bowen struggled to contribute to goals in the final third in the Premier League in the opening fixtures earlier in the campaign, but he has now been involved in three goals in the last four games.

He finally found the back of the net in the 2-1 loss against Brentford heading into the break, and his delivery on the corner kick was perfect for Ogbonna.

West Ham needed to bounce back from their last result as quickly as they could, and doing it right after the break is perfect.

Bowen is one of the most hardworking attackers in the English top-flight, but he needs to add goals and assists to his game if he wants to become an England international, and today’s assist comes as a huge boost.

The Hammers can win both games, and David Moyes will be relying on Bowen to deliver.
