Leeds lead pursuit for West Ham target Nahitan Nandez
West Ham have reportedly been handed a blow in their pursuit of Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez as Leeds United appear to be favourites, per a report in TEAMtalk.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Whites are extremely interested in securing the Uruguayan’s services in the summer.
West Ham, who have been linked with the player per Corriere dello Sport, will not be happy with the fact that Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani shares a strong relationship with Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini – which could give them the advantage with the player.
Cento Trentuno claimed that the Nandez’s €36 million (£31 million) release clause would have to be met, but should the player desperately look to force a move, the Italian outfit could be compelled to letting him go for a lower price.
Need to act sooner
At 25, Nandez seems to be at the ideal age for a move to a faster and more competitive league.
There’s no surprise that Marcelo Bielsa wants him at Leeds as he is an extremely tenacious midfielder who’s willing to put in the hard yards.
BBC pundit Mina Rzouk referred to the player as ‘unstoppable’ and ‘so amazing’ for his performances in the Serie A clash against Roma.
It’s important that we don’t let this one slip and should Leeds, for whatever reason, cool their pursuit of the player, we should be there to capitalise on it and signing him before other clubs join the party.
We could offer him the lure of European football – something that Leeds can’t. Much like them, we’ve performed beyond expectations this past season and are only to get better with good recruitment this summer.
We’ll be signing a striker and goalkeeper most probably, but adding Nandez to our ranks would be the cherry on the cake.
It will not be easy, but let’s hope we get this one over the line.
