Lazio will move for West Ham United defender Issa Diop if their first option fails
Serie A club Lazio will move for West Ham defender Issa Diop in the summer if they fail to sign their first-choice target, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
In their live transfer blog (9 June, 09:25 am), the Italian newspaper reported that Lazio have earmarked Alessio Romagnoli as their first-choice option.
However, they are struggling to get a deal for the defender over the line. In that case, the Italian giants could move for Diop, who faces an uncertain future at the club.

Likely to leave
Diop has a year left on his contract and doubts remain over his long-term future at the club.
The Frenchman has been in demand this summer, with Area Napoli reporting on 1 June that has was offered to Napoli for a fee in the region of £12.8 million on 31 May.
It was claimed that Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli would love to strike a deal for the Frenchman after having failed to sign him back in 2018.
In that case, it seems like he could be heading to Italy this summer, and there could be competition for him from several clubs, including Lazio.

Diop has made over 120 appearances in all competitions for the London outfit, but David Moyes could be willing to sanction his exit this summer.
The Frenchman struggled to make an impact in 2021-22 at the club, where he dropped down the pecking order behind Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson, and it’s high time to cash in on him.
