Kieran McKenna verdict emerges as Ipswich boss linked with West Ham United live on talkSPORT
Darren Bent has insisted Kieran McKenna will remain at Ipswich Town next season rather than make the move to West Ham after he was linked with replacing David Moyes.
The former Ipswich striker explained that the boss has everything he needs to succeed with the Tractor Boys and would be ripping up all of his good work by moving to East London.
He went on to claim that if one of the “big boys” came calling then McKenna would have to accept it, but the same wouldn’t apply to the Hammers.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [2 May, 16:40], Bent explained: “I think he stays. I know you’ve got to strike while the iron is hot, but in this scenario, he’s got everything at his disposal that he needs to succeed at Ipswich.
“You’re almost ripping all of that up and starting again. If you’re going to a club like one of the big boys, you can go ‘It might never happen again’. I’m not saying West Ham are not a big club, they are, but I don’t think they offer enough for Kieran McKenna to jump ship.”
Kieran McKenna verdict shared in West Ham manager news
McKenna has guided Ipswich from League One to now on the brink of promotion to the Premier League in just two seasons, catching the eye of several top clubs, with a move to West Ham having been suggested on several occasions.
He has even been linked to the job at Manchester United should Erik ten Hag lose his position, although as Bent explained, it may make more sense for him to remain at Ipswich for the time being to build on his current project.
Moyes is yet to extend his contract at West Ham which is set to expire at the end of the current season, and while no confirmation has been shared about whether he will leave the club, it is expected that he will do so when his deal expires.

The role has been up in the air in recent weeks after the Hammers entertained talks with several bosses including Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim and former Wolves coach Julen Lopetegui about taking over at the London Stadium.
