Kieran Maguire calls out misleading Karren Brady claim about West Ham finances on talkSPORT

West Ham chief Karren Brady made some bold statements on talkSPORT on Sunday morning.

The Hammers’ vice-chair featured on the radio station’s Sunday Edition with Shaun Custis and Henry Winter, and she made some striking admissions.

Brady revealed that West Ham will not be selling Lucas Paqueta, despite speculation linking him with a move away from E20 following the outcome of his spot-fixing investigation.

It’s been a difficult summer for the East Londoners so far, but the fact that the Brazilian will seemingly not be packing his bags is undoubtedly positive news, given the quality that he possesses.

Maguire calls out Brady over West Ham claim

Brady also took a swipe at Mohammed Kudus by pointing out that his uncharacteristically poor season last time out provided reason for West Ham to ultimately decide to sell him.

She also made claims about several much broader issues within both the Hammers and football in general, and Kieran Maguire has already taken to X to show his discontent with some of her statements.

The football finance expert picked fault with her suggestion regarding a new deal over the distribution of money from the Premier League to the EFL.

Crucially for West Ham, he also called her out a misleading claim regarding the ownership group in E20.

Brady suggested that the Irons’ owners have not taken any money out of the club, however Maguire has pointed out that she failed to mention the fact that both David Sullivan and David Gold have charged significant levels of interest on loans to the club.

Graham Potter should be fuming with Irons’ ownership

Graham Potter could easily find himself under pressure at West Ham if they fail to show a drastic improvement in the next few weeks, following their 3-0 defeat to Sunderland on the opening day.

However, the boss has every right to be seething with the backing he has received from Sullivan and the rest of the club hierarchy in the transfer market this summer.

The former Chelsea and Brighton chief has been tasked with picking up the pieces from Julen Lopetegui’s disastrous reign, but simply isn’t being provided with the resources that are necessary to oversee any sort of meaningful turnaround.

He is still working with largely the same group of players that failed under his predecessor, and unless there are several more new arrivals in the final few weeks of the transfer window, it will be hard to shake the feeling that Potter is doomed to fail.

The improvement that is currently being expected of him is likely unachievable given the current level of backing.
