Kieran Gill shares what he’s been told about David Moyes future at West Ham United, ‘I’ve spoken to someone inside…’
The chances of David Moyes still being at West Ham beyond this season are “slim”, according to Kieran Gill.
Responding to questions in his Q&A on the Daily Mail website on Wednesday (6 December, 01:14pm), the journalist revealed that every time he’s spoken to someone inside the club about the Hammers boss, they have said they’re in “no rush” to extend his contract before it expires next summer.
He added that the Irons’ hierarchy wants to see how this campaign unfolds before making a decision, but that the fans’ frustrations with the brand of football currently on offer under the Scotsman will be “taken into account”.

Asked what the chances are of Moyes still being at the London Stadium beyond this season, Gill said: “Slim, in my opinion. It is worth remembering that Moyes was given the choice to stay or go in the summer.
“The club felt he earned that right after winning the Europa Conference League. He met David Sullivan on June 9 – two days after that party in Prague – and told him his work was not done.
“But it is revealing that he was not handed a new deal as a reward. Moyes’ contract is still due to expire at the end of this season and every time I’ve spoken to someone inside of the club, including at board level, they say they’re in no rush to change that.
“They want to see how this campaign unfolds first – where they are in the Premier League, how they fare in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, if they qualify for Europe for a fourth successive season. But the fans’ frustrations with the brand of football will be taken into account.”
Unlikely
It’s starting to feel more unlikely by the day that Moyes will still be at West Ham next season after many of the supporters have aired their frustrations about the manager.
He came close to losing his job last season before eventually turning things around and leading the Hammers to the Europa Conference League success.
That encouraged the board to hand him another season to improve matters in the Premier League, but while the league position isn’t terrible, the fans – and probably the board – are expecting more from the current squad.

The Irons technical director Tim Steidten has been drawing up a list of potential replacements for the Scotsman, whether he remains at the club next season or not.
It just feels as though he is going to have to pull off another incredible achievement during this campaign to satisfy the fans and the individuals who will make the decision on his future.
