Kevin Nolan calls out BBC presenter over West Ham United howler live on air

Kevin Nolan called out something BBC presenter Aaron Paul said live on air regarding West Ham.

Speaking on 5 Live’s The Friday Football Special [9 February, 19:17], Paul named Aston Villa, Tottenham, Wolves and Newcastle United as teams capable of defeating the top-three clubs.

West Ham coach Nolan quickly interjected and asked why United were not mentioned, which had fellow guests Nigel Reo-Coker and Fara Williams laughing.

Nolan then added: “We’re above all of them apart from Aston Villa at the minute.”

Arsenal, Man United and Tottenham scalps

Given West Ham’s loss of form over the past month or so, it is easy for outsiders to discredit them.

The Irons have gone six games without a win in all competitions in 2024, exiting the FA Cup to second-tier opposition during that run.

Despite only collecting three points from the past 12 on offer, United are still a healthy seventh in the Premier League.

David Moyes has largely has a successful second spell in charge of West Ham United.

West Ham are eight points behind fifth, which could be enough for Champions League football, while Manchester United are two points better off in sixth.

The Hammers have defeated the likes of Arsenal, Man United and Tottenham this season, meanwhile, so they are very much capable of beating any side on their day.

Nolan was therefore right to put West Ham’s name forward on that list, but results do need to improve soon if United are going to remain serious European contenders.
