Karren Brady slams VAR after West Ham loss against Chelsea

Karren Brady has slammed VAR for costing West Ham the game against Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend.

She believes that it was the worst decision she’s seen in the last three decades and has called for an overhaul in the way the system is used.

Chelsea ended up winning the game 2-1 after Maxwel Cornet’s late equaliser was disallowed due to a foul on the goalkeeper.

West Ham

Carney told the Sun, “The decision to disallow our goal on Saturday at Chelsea was one of the worst I have seen in over 30 years in football.

“It was, in the words of Alan Shearer, a ‘terrible, disgraceful decision, ridiculous’.

“To many of us, the answer is clear. VAR has a place for offside decisions and goal-line rulings.

“Otherwise, leave all decisions to refs with a player’s rights of appeal for sendings off. And perhaps it should not be used at all until those using it learn how to use it correctly.”

Shocking

The Premier League should use this small break to work on fixing VAR and ensuring that it does not dominate conversations every week.

It’s been a few years since its implementation but there are shocking calls being made every now and then.

This past weekend was arguably the worst one in recent memory and Brady is right – either use it correctly or don’t use it all.

Certain teams are going to be disadvantaged if the same standards aren’t used all across the board.

It can even cost teams millions as they may get relegated or even miss out on European football and all the clubs get in the end is an apology from the PGMOL.

Something seriously needs to be done as the game is going further down the wrong path and it’s getting absolutely ridiculous now.
