Karren Brady opens up on what David Moyes truly made of West Ham United decision
Karren Brady claims both David Moyes and West Ham United believed it was “the right time to make a change” ahead of the manager’s departure this summer.
Moyes is set to step down at the end of the season when his contract expires after four-and-a-half seasons in charge at London Stadium.
And Brady has suggested that the decision to part ways is mutual, rather than club pushing the head coach out.
She wrote for The Sun [10 May]: “Often in life — and certainly in sport — one of the toughest challenges is knowing when to change something that has been good, something that has been stable, something that has been successful.
“Both David and us at West Ham believed that it is the right time to make a change as we look to continue that pursuit in line with our ambition for an even brighter future.
“A future that David Moyes has helped to make possible, thanks to the building blocks of stability and consistency that he has put in place.”
The right time for managerial change at West Ham United?
The success achieved by Moyes at West Ham since his reappointment for a second spell as head coach is undeniable.
The Scotsman steered the club to safety in his first half-season as they teetered on the brink of relegation before promptly delivering Europa League qualification in the very next campaign, and every campaign since – though their chances of repeating that feat this term are unlikely.
In addition, the club had enjoyed runs to the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Europa League, as well as winning their first trophy since 1980 – and their first European trophy since 1965 – when they lifted the Europa Conference League last season.

However, the club’s form since the turn of the calendar year has been concerning.
In West Ham’s 23 games across all competitions in 2024, they have mustered just four wins, losing 10 times and drawing the other nine.
A platform for further success has certainly been built by Moyes – but West Ham fans will hope incoming boss Julen Lopetegui can resurrect the team’s form next season and elevate the side even higher.
