Karren Brady makes ‘disappointing’ West Ham United admission amid David Moyes speculation

West Ham will continue to back manager David Moyes after a “disappointing season” but it is hoped the results will keep on improving, says vice-chair Karren Brady.

The Hammers were thrashed 4-0 by Brighton at the weekend, leaving them 16th in the Premier League and just two points clear of the bottom of the table.

The Daily Mail reported on 5 March that as it stands, Moyes retains the full support of the club and they won’t sack him after the club’s disappointing Premier League campaign so far.

Speaking to BBC Radio London [via BBC Sport, 8 March], Brady said: “I can’t put any pressure on David Moyes because he puts enough on himself.

“The really important thing is for everyone to stick together to be really focused, understand what the issues are.

“It’s been a disappointing season. After two great seasons and the success we had in Europe, things haven’t gone the way we wanted.

“We spent an extraordinarily large amount of money in the summer. Undoubtedly, it takes people time to settle in and create a new way of playing with such a lot of new players.”

Crucial next games

Considering the job Moyes has done at the London Stadium until now, it’s perfectly understandable that the board stick with him until the end of the campaign at least.

The Hammers have endured a rather torrid Premier League campaign, currently sitting in 16th place when they should really be battling amongst the European places at the top end of the table.

West Ham

The club face a crucial run of games in the coming weeks which they will desperately need to pick up some positive results to steer clear of the drop and Brady is right, the whole club needs to stick together to achieve Premier League safety.

Moyes is certainly not exempt from criticism and scrutiny considering the money he spent last summer, and he’s now got to deliver to avoid damaging his own reputation and undoing some of the good work he’s done in East London over the past few years.
