Kalvin Phillips ‘mystery’ emerges at West Ham United ahead of clash v Chelsea
West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips has suffered a “mystery” injury ahead of the Chelsea clash and will be out for the season, according to the Sun.
The newspaper reported via its online edition on 4 May that the England international’s chances of playing in Euro 2024 appear to be gone.
The 28-year-old made 10 appearances for the Hammers since his loan move from Manchester City but will now not play any further part for the club.
Kalvin Phillips’ West Ham United move ends in despair
Despite moving to the London Stadium to get more game time, the midfielder made just 10 appearances with only three of those being starts.
This setback has significantly diminished his chances of impressing Gareth Southgate before the Euro 2024.
Adding to his woes, Phillips’ performances at the Hammers have been underwhelming, including a debut that saw him inadvertently set up an opposition goal and a red card in his fourth game.
His time at the club culminated in an incident with a fan after a loss, which was met with support from manager David Moyes but nonetheless cast a shadow over Phillips’ stint with the club.
Given these circumstances, Phillips’ primary focus should now be on recovering from his injury and regaining fitness.

His future at Manchester City remains uncertain and the immediate concern should be to address his health and form before considering his next career move.
In other West Ham news, a £10m release clause claim has emerged as the Hammers have been given a chance to hire an ‘Elite’ manager.
