Kalvin Phillips finished at West Ham United as Manchester City talks held
West Ham loanee Kalvin Phillips is expected to miss the remainder of the campaign through injury, according to The Athletic.
The online outlet reported on Saturday (4 May) that Phillips has sustained an injury that will likely rule him out of the Irons’ final three games, one of which he is ineligible for against his parent club.
United and Manchester City’s medical departments are said to be in talks regarding where it is best for Phillips to undergo his rehabilitation.
The England international has made just 10 appearances for West Ham since joining on a short-term deal in January.
Kalvin Phillips unable to get going at West Ham
Phillips really has endured a torrid spell at London Stadium since joining from City, failing to complete a full 90 minutes on a single occasion.
The midfielder has played just 40 minutes since being hauled off at half-time against Burnley nearly a month ago.
It is looking more and more apparent that United dodged a bullet by not signing Phillips on a permanent basis in January.
This trial period, if you can call it that, shows that the £40million or so is better spent elsewhere, rather than on a midfielder struggling to find his form of old.

From Phillips’ perspective, it will be difficult not to feel sorry for himself because he simply has not had a break since joining City from Leeds United two years ago.
His biggest problem now is finding a club that is willing to pay big for him, or else another season on Man City’s bench awaits.
As for West Ham, the unfortunate truth is that being without Phillips for the final few games of the campaign will make absolutely no difference.
In other West Ham news, a Portugal international linked with a move to London Stadium is expected to be sold this summer.
