Juventus want West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca, steps ‘already being taken’ for transfer

Steps are “already being taken” by Juventus to sign West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca, according to Calciomercato.

The publication reported on its website on Friday (21 July) that the striker has been in the sights of the Serie A club for some time.

The Italian international only joined the Hammers last summer from Sassuolo, scoring eight goals in his debut campaign in England.

“On loan with the right of redemption, perhaps with a conditional obligation on the achievement of important objectives,” according to Calciomercato. “So even Juve could come back for real against Gianluca Scamacca.

“As long as Dusan Vlahovic leaves first, as long as the main options end up fading. But Scamacca has been in the Juventus sights for some time and Cristiano Giuntoli likes him a lot.

“That’s why the national team’s centre-forward is not lost sight of and steps are already being taken towards West Ham.”

Exit close?

Scamacca has been linked with a West Ham exit for quite some time now, with the striker enduring a frustrating debut season at the London Stadium.

His arrival was met with plenty of excitement, but like many other Hammers forwards that have come before him, Scamacca ultimately let the supporters down with his goal tally.

It was a risk bringing him to East London in the first place, with the Italian not exactly a proven European striker.

And that risk definitely hasn’t paid off thus far, although in the player’s defence, he was certainly hampered by injuries ever since arriving at the club.

There may be some supporters out there who still believe that he can come good next season, but it may be too late for the player, with a move back to his homeland seemingly close.

Whether it would be a temporary or permanent Hammers exit for the 24-year-old remains to be seen.

In other West Ham news, a transfer development has emerged as one Hammers player is “increasingly likely” to make a switch to another Premier League club.
