Juventus in contact with Filip Kostic, West Ham United must wait until tomorrow

West Ham United must wait until tomorrow (3 August) to find out if they have any hope of landing Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

The Daily Mail reported on (2 August) that the Hammers could move on to other targets after struggling to come to an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt and Kostic.

It now appears that the saga could be coming to a head with Gazzetta journalist Pedulla suggesting (via Twitter, 2 August) that West Ham must wait until tomorrow (3 August) to learn the outcome of their pursuit of the wingback.

It’s also been claimed that Kostic was in contact with Juventus this morning as the Serie A giants look to add to the 29-year-old to their ranks.

Move on?

The prospect of Champions League football for the Serbian wing-back could be one of the key reasons behind his reluctance to move to the London Stadium this summer.

ExWHUemployee revealed (31 July via his Patreon) that Kostic’s agent is trying to convince him to move to the London Stadium with a new financial package potentially on the table.

This transfer saga does seem very West Ham with the back and forth negotiations very much out in the open for everybody to see.

West Ham

Ultimately, if the 29-year-old doesn’t want to move to the club and the Hammers aren’t willing to pay Frankfurt’s asking price then they should move on.

David Moyes does need to add another left-back to his ranks with Arthur Masuaku leaving the London Stadium to move to Besiktas.

Kostic would’ve allowed Moyes to operate a three-at-the-back system, but whether he would’ve been an option as an out-and-out left-back remains in plenty of doubt.

There is still a chance that he could be a West Ham player, but Hammers fans shouldn’t hold out too much hope.
