Jurgen Klopp shares honest David Moyes opinion ahead of West Ham United v Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has shared his thoughts on David Moyes ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash between West Ham and Liverpool.

There has been plenty of talk surrounding Moyes’ future at London Stadium on the back of last week’s heavy loss to Crystal Palace.

But Klopp, who will definitely be departing his current position in the summer, is a big fan of Moyes and believes he deserves more praise.

“David is one of the best colleagues,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference, as per Liverpool’s official website [26 April].

“We don’t have time really to spend together but we spoke actually over the years a lot before games or whatever.

“I like him a lot, respect him a lot. I think he is doing an incredible job, to be honest. I like the team they have, offensively really talented, good transfers.

“I think I heard once in a press conference of David when he said, ‘What do you want us to achieve?’ There are six teams in the league that have to be in this moment in time above West Ham – not all of them are but actually I would say they have to.

“That means seventh is pretty much the best you can achieve, and they did that and better now for a few years. I really think he is doing a ridiculously good job there, to be honest.”

David Moyes surely heading for West Ham exit

Liverpool manager Klopp was always going to talk fondly of Moyes – what else would you expect between two managers? – but he does sound sincere with what he says.

In fairness, Moyes is one of the most respected managers around, not just in the Premier League but right across Europe. That is not to say West Ham fans cannot respect him while at the same time wanting him to depart in the summer.

David Moyes has had a mixed season at West Ham

Nobody can say the Scotsman has not done a brilliant job as West Ham chief. Guiding United into Europe for multiple successive seasons is something nobody else has managed.

That is not to mention going all the way in the Europa Conference League last season, earning the Irons a very rare piece of silverware in the process.

It is sounding more and more likely that Moyes’ future has already been decided. If that is the case, he at least deserves the respect of the supporters across these remaining games.
