Julen Lopetegui stance on Jean-Clair Todibo emerges after West Ham United developments
Julen Lopetegui has been left “delighted” by Jean-Clair Todibo’s progress so far at West Ham United, according to Give Me Sport.
The outlet reported on its website on Friday (11 October) that the Hammers expect the Frenchman to become an integral part of the Spaniard’s side this season, despite having a slow start in East London.
Lopetegui believes his decision to slowly integrate the former Nice man has been vindicated with sources close to the club suggesting the deal to sign him will go down as an astute piece of transfer business.
Reports had suggested that the Hammers boss didn’t feel that Todibo was fit enough to play Premier League football when he first arrived at West Ham [Mail Online, 25 September] but those fears now appear to have vanished.

There have been so many question marks around Lopetegui and his decision-making in the early weeks of his tenure at the London Stadium, but it feels as though the Spaniard’s calls are beginning to be vindicated.
Nobody expected Todibo to miss the first month or so of the season given the fanfare around his signing, but that time away from the playing field has allowed him to get up to speed and ready for the Premier League.
Whether or not that would have happened had been thrown into the deep end by Lopetegui is by the by. The former Real Madrid manager’s methods have worked and hopefully, the Frenchman will only continue to improve in claret and blue.
Between Todibo and Max Kilman, the Hammers have an incredibly solid defensive pairing.
They’re far from perfect, but with Konstantinos Mavropanos in support, the Irons have a trio of defenders that should be able to provide the foundations for a European push this term.
That won’t be easy to achieve after a slow start on the pitch, but stranger things have happened in the Premier League in the past.
