Julen Lopetegui sack update as West Ham board members lose faith

Julen Lopetegui has lost the faith of some West Ham board members after the defeat at Leicester, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Irons lost 3-1 at the King Power Stadium on 3 December and find themselves just six points above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Sky Sports journalist Sheth shared on X [4 December] that Lopetegui’s future now hangs in the balance, with the board weighing up whether to sack him.

Lopetegui should be sacked before West Ham face Wolves

After the hammering against Arsenal, the Leicester game was a chance for the Hammers to get back on track, to build momentum ahead of a nice run of fixtures in the Christmas period.

The Irons face Wolves, Bournemouth, Brighton and Southampton before they host Liverpool on 29 December.

However, Lopetegui should not be in the dugout for those games given the performances against Arsenal and Leicester.

Once the fans turn on a manager, it is an almost impossible task to get them back on side, you need to win matches, which it does not look like Lopetegui’s side can.

The next few games are crucial to the Hammers’ season, they could be dragged into a harsh relegation scrap if results go the wrong way.

The Spaniard should not oversee them, it would be negligent of the club if he does with a list of replacements already drawn up [The Sun].

Change is coming at the London Stadium.
