Lopetegui sack: Sky Sports share breaking West Ham United update from Rush Green

West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui has arrived at the Rush Green training camp as normal on Tuesday morning, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster provided an update live on air [7 January, 09:23am] amid intense speculation surrounding the Spaniard’s future over the past 24 hours.

talkSPORT reported that Lopetegui had already been sacked by the Irons on Monday (6 January), but he is currently at the training base with no official confirmation having been shared.

“We understand he’s currently at the club’s training ground,” reporter James Savundra said. “He arrived early this morning. His future is under serious threat, but he is at the training ground.”

Who will be next West Ham United manager?

The overwhelming favourite right now is former Brighton and Chelsea boss Graham Potter, amid an image that has been widely shared on social media.

Other names seemingly in the frame to replace Lopetegui, assuming he does indeed get sacked, include Michael Carrick and a certain David Moyes.

Turning to Moyes for a third time really would be ridiculous. After all the fallout of last season when the fanbase was split over the Scotsman, that is definitely not the route to go down this time.

Carrick would be a good option on the face of it, albeit he is under contract at Championship side Middlesbrough.

Potter is not tied to a club and that therefore makes him an option that David Sullivan will surely favour.

With Lopetegui now at the training base, it may well be that he is officially given his marching orders imminently.

Then it will be time to get excited about this latest new era at the London Stadium.
