Julen Lopetegui sack: Dharmesh Sheth shares West Ham update from Rush Green

Julen Lopetegui has arrived at Rush Green to take training for the West Ham first team, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist reported on 8 January that despite all the talk surrounding his sack, he’s expected to be on the grass with the players.

However, his press conference, which was scheduled for 1:15pm on Wednesday, has been cancelled.

Sheth wrote on X: “Julen Lopetegui has arrived at West Ham’s training ground. As things stand, he’s expected to take training. However, his news conference – scheduled for 1.15pm – has been cancelled.”

West Ham players do not need another training session with Julen Lopetegui

There is no point in Lopetegui arriving for training when it’s clear the club are going to sack him.

The reason his press conference has been called off is probably because they plan to announce it sometime on Wednesday.

If he’s there to say goodbye to the players and some of the staff then it makes sense, but having him conduct training is pointless.

Everyone around the club would probably have an idea that he’s on borrowed time and that it could be his last day at the Hammers.

The team are in desperate need of a bounce and that’s something that a new manager could provide right away.

In other West Ham news, sources claim the Hammers can now secure the services of a £40m player in January.
