Julen Lopetegui potential sack timeframe outlined amid poor West Ham United form
Fara Williams believes it’s still too early for West Ham United to be thinking about sacking Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers have had a poor season thus far, despite some memorable wins along the way like against Manchester United, and fans have been calling for the head of the Spaniard.
Writing for the BBC Sport website (14 November), former player turned pundit Williams shared that if things don’t start improving by December, that’s when “questions should start to be asked” about the former Wolves boss.
“It will take time [to get back into form] but they certainly have a good enough squad. When you look at the players they have and the quality of those players, they should be getting better results,” she wrote.
“With the next few fixtures and into December, you would expect results to pick up and if they don’t, that is when the questions should start to be asked.
“But talk of sacking him in this international break is way too soon. He has only just stepped into the role, but the expectations were a lot higher.
“Ultimately for West Ham it is about staying in the Premier League, then if they can get into those European spots they will be doing great.
“Management is about time. The players have to do better, but the manager needs to be given a bit time to get that together.
“I do not think sacking him and trying to rebuild with someone else with the players he has brought in is the right answer right now”.
West Ham United need to sack Julen Lopetegui
Williams may think that the best course of action for the Hammers to take at the moment is to keep Lopetegui at the helm.
And, on paper, some of the results he’s pulled out of the bag such as their win against the Red Devils make him seem like a managerial genius, but in reality, West Ham were just lucky.
The Irons spent big in the summer and were one of few Premier League teams that heavily changed their squad.
Players such as Jean Clair-Todibo and Crysencio Summerville were welcomed to the club but as has been the case with most West Ham transfers in recent seasons, things haven’t gone quite to plan, especially with Niclas Fullkrug.

If David Sullivan doesn’t relieve Lopetegui of his duties soon, he’s likely just digging himself a grave and ruling his club out of a chance to finish the term in a European spot.
Only time will tell what the future holds but with Lopetegui at the helm, it’s hard to see how things will get any better.
In other West Ham news, Emerson will surely be sweating about his starting XI spot if the Hammers sign Archie Brown in January.
