Julen Lopetegui heads to West Ham sack, sensational Maurizio Sarri hire possible
Maurizio Sarri has emerged as a “Sensational” option to potentially replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United, according to CalcioMercatoWeb.
The Italian outlet reported via its website on Wednesday (6 November) that Lopetegui is “heading towards dismissal” and Sarri is a candidate to succeed him.
Edin Terzic, though, remains the Irons’ first choice, with Sarri being one of several alternative options under consideration.
West Ham United could replace Julen Lopetegui with Maurizio Sarri
It is safe to say Lopetegui has not lived up to expectations since taking the reins at the London Stadium in the summer as the Hammers sit fourteenth in the table with 11 points in 10 games.
The West Ham hierarchy has already warned the Spaniard of the need for results to improve twice (The Times) and a defeat against Everton at home on Saturday (9 November) could be the final nail in the coffin for him.
However, replacing Lopetegui with Sarri would not make sense for the East London outfit as the Italian is not the profile that the club needs right now.
There is no doubt about Sarri’s reputation as a tactician, but the 65-year-old has had little success in recent years.

The veteran has not won a trophy since leading Juventus to Serie A glory in 2020 and averaged 1.64 points per match in 137 games in his last stint as Lazio boss.
Terzic, meanwhile, is prioritising a move to the Premier League after leaving Borussia Dortmund, who he led to the UEFA Champions League final last season, in the summer (Sami Mokbel), and would be a better option for West Ham.
In other West Ham news, the Irons’ interest in this striker has been confirmed by the owner of the club he plays for.
