Julen Lopetegui camp stance on West Ham United start revealed
Roshane Thomas has revealed that Julen Lopetegui knew he would have a slow start at West Ham as the squad adapts to his methods.
The Hammers have won just two games to open the Premier League campaign under the Spaniard, with the most recent being a 4-1 win against Ipswich Town.
Thomas told The Athletic on 17 October that the ex-Real Madrid boss knew this would happen at the London Stadium and believes the Irons are now going in the right direction.
He said: “Having taken eight points from the seven games, the table reflects where West Ham should be, but Julen Lopetegui’s camp knew it would be a slow start to his first season in charge, due to some tough fixtures against Villa, City and Chelsea.
“The squad are still adapting to his methods, but the 4-1 win against Ipswich last time out was a much-needed turn in the right direction.”
Julen Lopetegui West Ham stance shared
Lopetegui replaced David Moyes in the summer as supporters went after a change in tactical direction under a new head coach.
This hasn’t exactly worked out as some would have wanted despite a superb transfer window which was met with plenty of excitement ahead of the new campaign.
The likes of Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville have failed have a truly positive impact at the London Stadium this season.
With that being said, it appears that the Spaniard is content with where his side is at after a better showing against Ipswich last time out.
The Irons definitely looked better gelled together after a shaky few weeks and only time will tell if that is the case.

A return to Premier League action against Tottenham will certainly be a tough test for the ex-Wolves boss to prove where his side are under his leadership.
There are no guarantees in North London against difficult opposition but it will be an interesting measure of the campaign so far.
