Journo shares lifts lid on West Ham United ace Declan Rice’s future amid ‘sky-high’ interest

Journalist Ben Jacobs has lifted the lid on Declan Rice’s West Ham United future amid links away from east London in the summer.

Where the England international will play his football next season has been up in the air ever since the midfielder turned down multiple contract requests from the Hammers.

However, Jacobs, a journalist with 15 years worth of industry experience believes that the Irons ace will still be at the London Stadium next season amid major interest.

He said as per The Done Deal Show: “Even at those sky-high figures, West Ham are seemingly still sticking to their guns, which is very frustrating for the suitors that are interested in him, and beyond that figure, I don’t see any of the Premier League suitors circling Rice – Chelsea, in particular – paying remotely close to that, not in this window.

“And therefore, I think that Rice, as he was, will be at West Ham come the first kick of the season and beyond when the window shuts.”

He’s staying.

Ahead of the transfer window Rice looked almost nailed on to leave the Hammers.

The 23-year-old turning down another contract ripped the hearts out of the West Ham fans but that blow has been somewhat softened with him seemingly staying at the club next campaign.

West Ham

Of course, anything could still happen but the former Chelsea ace will hopefully, fulfil his role as captain following the departure of Mark Noble at the end of 2021/22.

A lot of credit needs to go to the club on this one. They set their price for the Hammer – a very high one at that – and stuck to it which seems to have put off a lot of potential suitors.

Rice has been one of the best players to wear the claret & blue shirt in recent history so it will be a shame to see him leave.

Hopefully, he can right last season’s wrongs and do something notable with east Londoners before his inevitable departure.
