Journalist: West Ham fans are ‘clamouring’ for this player to get more game time

One of the more baffling aspects of West Ham United manager David Moyes’ second spell at the club has been his attitude towards Pablo Fornals.

The Spain international was arguably the team’s most in-form player in the dark final days of Manuel Pellegrini’s reign.

However, since the Scot replaced the Chilean, Fornals has seemingly been cast aside without any thought for his fine recent performances.

It’s been bizarre to witness, and the West Ham supporters have been struggling to find a reason for it.

Football London’s Hammers correspondent Sam Inkersole believes that the fans are desperate to see the 23-year-old get more game time.

“Fornals was one of the better Hammers players during the final matches under the Chilean but since Moyes came in, he initially preferred Manuel Lanzini in the number ten role and the arrival of Tomas Soucek has also complicated matters for the £25m summer signing,” he wrote on the Football London website.

“Hammers fans are clamouring for Fornals to get more game time, especially in the wake of the dreadful form of Lanzini in recent weeks, and he will be one no doubt hoping to make a case to the manager to get more starts for the run-in.”

Are the fans ‘clamouring’ for Fornals?

It certainly seems like it. There’s been an uproar almost every time the Spaniard’s name has been left off the starting team-sheet.

Fornals has started only two Premier League games since the turn of the year, playing just 77 minutes besides those in his substitute appearances.

This is a guy who was really starting to round into form prior to Moyes’ arrival. However, it appears that the Scot prefers Lanzini, who he knows well, despite the Argentine’s dreadful form.

It’s been quite strange to see Moyes continually opt for others over Fornals, and it’s about time that he reverses his thinking on the former Villarreal man.

In other West Ham news, Moyes is reportedly ready to sanction the exit of one of the club’s prized assets.
