Journalist: Tim Steidten to draw up manager list to replace David Moyes at West Ham United
Tim Steidten is set to draw up a new manager list for West Ham whether David Moyes survives this season or not, according to Sean Whetstone.
The 6foot2 editor tweeted that the challenge around sacking the Hammers boss during the last campaign was that there was “no contingency plan” in place.
He said that will “now change” as the Irons technical director identifies potential candidates for the hot seat at the London Stadium if the Scotsman does leave or “even if he is offered an extension”.
“Steidten will draw up a manager list whether Moyes survives the season or not or even if he is offered an extension,” said Whetstone. “The challenge last season was there was no contingency plan, that will now change.”
Interesting
It’s interesting to hear that the West Ham hierarchy will instruct Steidten to draw up a shortlist of potential managers in preparation for Moyes leaving the club.
After there was no plan B in place on the back of the struggles midway through last season, the board have clearly recognised that they need to be more forward-thinking.
They obviously believe the German is well-placed to find the next potential manager after spearheading the recruitment of players throughout the summer.

While this shift in approach could raise concerns about Moyes’ position at the club, it seems to be more about the club being proactive and prepared.
The Scot is incredibly unlikely to be with the Irons for several years because you don’t see that in football much anymore, so it’s just about identifying who would be a good fit for us once that day comes.
In other West Ham news, an £8million development has emerged in the club’s bid to sign Kalvin Phillips.
