Journalist shares West Ham board stance on David Moyes sack decision

The West Ham board are likely to stick with David Moyes until the end of the season despite all the sack speculation, claims Sean Whetstone.

The Claret & Hugh journalist, who is also a die hard Hammers fan, has revealed his frustrations at the club’s style of play.

Despite the poor style of football, the club are in a respectable position domestically as well as in Europe.

Whetstone wrote, “If winning results regularly came with the kind of stuff we played against the Spuds in that second half everything would be absolutely fine but his negative approach on the pitch generally and excuses off it frankly make me sick.

“Having said all that, I understand why the board look likely to stick with the man until the end of the season when I firmly believe he will be gone. We aren’t going to be relegated so why pay of around a million quid in giving him the bum’s rush.

“He’s not worth that sort of cash in bulk. If he stays, there may be a few giving up their season tickets.”

Dismal

Moyes’ sack at West Ham is warranted due to the team’s uninspiring style of play and his negative approach.

Despite the occasional positive result, the overall football under the Scotsman has failed to captivate fans, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction.

The second-half performance against Tottenham, though promising, contrasts with a generally conservative and unattractive style that leaves supporters disheartened.

Moreover, Moyes’ tendency to make excuses rather than address the team’s shortcomings is perceived negatively, eroding confidence in his leadership.

While the board may opt to retain Moyes until the end of the season to avoid unnecessary financial implications, the prospect of losing season ticket holders and the declining enthusiasm among fans should be a cause for concern.

Moyes does have goodwill in the bank after guiding the club to a European trophy but it’s clear he’s not really taking this team anywhere.

In other West Ham news, Aston Villa want to sign an international Hammers player and things aren’t going well for him currently.
