Journalist shares update on Trent Alexander-Arnold availability ahead of West Ham United v Liverpool
Liverpool defender Trent-Alexander could return for the game against West Ham on Sunday (24 September), according to James Pearce.
Speaking on The Athletic’s Walk On podcast on Wednesday (20 September), the journalist said the England international will “hopefully” return for the fixture at Anfield.
The 24-year-old right-back missed the Reds’ 3-1 victory over Wolves on Saturday (16 September) after being forced to withdraw from the recent international squad with a hamstring injury.

A negative
This isn’t great news for West Ham as it’s been proven on a number of occasions how much of an impact Alexander-Arnold can have going forward for Liverpool.
While there have been questions raised about his defensive side of the game for a number of years, what he provides offensively outweighs the potential negatives.
The right-back has started moving into a midfield role when the Reds are in possession and he can cause real danger in that position, playing balls in behind the opposition’s defence.

Joe Gomez deputised for him against Wolves and didn’t look too comfortable, so the Hammers will be hoping they have to call upon him again if Alexander-Arnold doesn’t quite make it back in time.
It will be a difficult game for us no matter who lines up for the Merseysiders, but we should be confident heading into the clash after putting together a strong start to the season.
In other West Ham news, one player could be set to leave the club in January after transfer news has emerged.
