Journalist shares Jarrod Bowen update following ‘gruesome’ finger injury as West Ham United prepare for Anderlecht

Journalist Paul Brown believes Jarrod Bowen will feature for West Ham on Thursday night, despite his “gruesome” injury.

Bowen shone for the Hammers during their recent 2-0 win over Wolves, with the 25-year-old picking up his first goal and assist of the season.

But he was also pictured in agony following a nasty injury to his finger which left it pointing in the wrong direction. However, after being pictured back in training with it strapped up, Brown believes Bowen will feature against Anderlecht on Thursday evening.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Brown said: “Initially, he spoke about the finger injury as being pretty bad and it looks quite gruesome in the pictures.

“But Bowen, I understand, has trained and had the finger strapped up. If he’s training, it would suggest that they’re willing to give him a go.

“I think he probably will feature at some point. There isn’t really much point West Ham messing about because they need wins.”

Momentum

Despite suffering what was obviously a painful finger injury, Bowen seems keen to jump right back into the action with West Ham on Thursday.

After a poor start to the season, Bowen has enjoyed a successful last few weeks, starting with a call-up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate.

The trip away with the Three Lions seemed to do the West Ham winger a world of good, as he returned and put in his best performance of the season to date with a goal and assist against Wolves.

With Bowen clearly fighting for a place in England’s World Cup squad this winter, he won’t want to miss a single minute more than he has to between now and the November start date.

Plus, with a great performance under his belt, Bowen will be wanting to build some momentum and rack up his scoring tally. Anderlecht is by no means an easy match for David Moyes’ side, but the Hammers have been flawless in Europe so far this season, and it’s a great chance for Bowen to etch his name onto the scoresheet.

With no risk of worsening the injury on the pitch, Bowen will fight through the pain barrier on Thursday.
