Journalist says Said Benrahma ‘should be worried’ about new West Ham United signings

Paul Brown has claimed West Ham winger Said Benrahma should be worried about the arrival of new stars including Mohammed Kudus, and will need to up his game.

The former Express journalist claimed the Algerian will need to improve his consistency if he wants to prove to David Moyes that he is still a valuable part of his squad after the arrival of Kudus.

He has also suggested the incoming stars will raise the level of their teammates with everybody at the club aspiring to reach their best level and prove they can still offer their own talent to the first team at the London Stadium.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT on 28 September, Brown claimed: “I think if you’re Said Benrahma, you should be spurred on really.

“It should show you that you are going to need to find some consistency and perform every week to stay in this team. And I think that raises standards across the board.

“It’s not just Benrahma who should be worried about the fact that players like Mohamed Kudus are coming to the club, I think it lifts everyone when you bring in players of quality and the squad has a bit more depth now than it did last season.”

Players will have to prove their worth

New arrivals such as Kudus, James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos do not only provide some brilliant depth to this West Ham squad but should also serve as a warning to every player at the club that they can be displaced.

Having improved squad depth will be valuable to the Hammers as they look to compete across all four tournaments this season, including in Europe, but it could leave some players fearing for their first-team place.

Benrahma is on a list of several players who will need to step up and prove to Moyes that they can offer something the other players at the club don’t if they wish to hold onto a starting place rather than find themselves on the sidelines.

With the emergence of talents, Kudus and Mavropanos in particular, in positions that the Hammers already have settled names in, they have added competition and an added drive to the squad. This should, by all means, mean players will have to improve or risk being left behind.

In other West Ham news, a 100% Hammers star has staked his claim to a regular Premier League place.
