Journalist: Said Benrahma pushing for inclusion in West Ham clash v Liverpool
West Ham United winger Said Benrahma is pushing for his first taste of Premier League action against Liverpool on Saturday.
Football London journalist Sam Inkersole has delivered the update after the Algerian missed the 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
It was reported that Benrahma simply missed the game due to a lack of match fitness at the London Stadium after joining from Brentford.
Benrahma did complete a full week of training before that City game, so will now have had a fortnight at Rush Green to put himself into contention.
The winger was spotted before last weekend’s draw being put through his paces by Stuart Pearce on the track outside the stadium, although that wasn’t enough.
All the odds are clearly in Benrahma’s favour now, and there should surely be no excuses regarding his fitness before the Anfield trip.
The 25-year-old will be chomping at the bit to get going, with everyone looking forward to seeing his skill out wide for the Irons against one of the best.
David Moyes will be delighted to have this sort of competition in his West Ham squad, with everything looking rosy right now in east London.
Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Pablo Fornals have been superb in this four-match unbeaten run, all playing big roles.
There have been question marks over the fitness of Antonio after being replaced in the last two games, and having Benrahma available will ease those fears.
Benrahma has been involved in 50 goals over the past couple of seasons at Brentford, and having that threat in the final third will be a concern for Liverpool – this is definitely one to watch.
