Journalist reacts to West Ham United news on possible David Moyes replacement
Journalist Paul Brown believes it would be strange for West Ham chiefs to replace David Moyes with Michael Carrick, as reported by Give Me Sport.
There is an expectation that the Scotsman will part ways with the club at the end of the season, regardless of its outcome.
Conversely, Carrick is attracting many potential suitors due to his instant impact on Teeside with Middlesbrough set to seal a playoff spot.

In addition to the Hammers, the former Manchester United midfielder has been linked with the hot seat at clubs like Leicester City and Crystal Palace but Brown just can’t see it happening in east London.
“I can’t see West Ham going for Michael Carrick. I think that would be a strange choice for the owners,” he stated.
“They don’t normally go in that kind of direction. Benitez is someone they’ve always liked, but I think he would be quite expensive and his last job didn’t go very well.
“I find it unlikely that they would ditch Moyes and go with Benitez.”

Search for stability
The Irons face an uncertain, yet intriguing end to the season.
Premier League relegation is a distinct prospect as is a shot at European glory. It is obvious what the priority is but if the Europa Conference League will be within touching distance if Gent can be taken care of, on Thursday.
Even if Moyes secures top-flight football for another season, he is still tipped to move on, just one year after a seventh-place finish and a last-four spot in the Europa League. It is a cut-throat business for sure.
If the parting of ways does come, West Ham needs to search for stability. The new man needs to provide direction and an identity to develop on the pitch.
That could be Carrick but it would definitely be a risk. The example of Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton is the desire but that appointment was backed by a slick operation off the pitch in Sussex.
For now, it is Moyes and he has so much to play for in the last few weeks of the campaign.
