Journalist: David Moyes has just three games to save his job at West Ham United

Ex-Eurosport journalist Dean Jones claims that David Moyes’ West Ham job is at risk, with the Scot given just three games by the board to turn things around.

The Hammers are preparing for their Premier League return on Boxing Day, with a very difficult trip to league leaders Arsenal first up.

Following that, West Ham face Brentford and Leeds United on the 30 December and 4 January – failure to pick up points will see Moyes lose his job.

That comes via Jones, who told GiveMeSport that the Irons hierarchy are running out of patience with Moyes and need to see an upturn of results in the next three games for him to stay on as manager.

“I’m hearing that he might only have three games to turn it around,” said Jones.

“Other agents will hear that message and they’ll probably hold back a little bit. Agents will be trying to figure out exactly how West Ham’s future is going to shape up.”

Tick tock

If Jones’ report is true then Moyes is facing a very scary ultimatum at the London Stadium.

The Scotsman has done superbly well with the club, but with the threat of relegation looming large it’s hardly a surprise that he is under huge pressure.

Sitting just one point above the bottom three at Christmas is hardly what Hammers fans would have envisioned at the start of the season. If it wasn’t for the impressive Europa Conference League campaign this season then Moyes may have already been sacked by now.

Facing Arsenal on the first league game back will be a tough ask, and a defeat could land a huge blow to the squad’s confidence. They ended the winter break with three consecutive defeats and Boxing Day is a great chance to make a promising start to the second half of the season.

It may be January, but Moyes will likely be sweating more than usual on the sidelines for the next three matches.
